このアプリは「ブルルルル・・・」という低音(BrainWave)と、5つのBackground Soundを同時に流し続けます。 音を出す時間はもちろん設定でき(10分、20分、30分、40分、1時間、2時間、3時間、4時間、8時間)、起動中もスリープ状態に移行されます。 スリープ状態でも設定した時間までは音は鳴り続けます。 Background Soundは、ocean1(穏やかな波)、ocean2(1よりもやや大きめなさざ波)、rain(小雨)、thunder(小雨の中の小さな雷音)、Pink Noise(TVの砂嵐を穏やかにした音。「ザーッ」ではなく「サー」)の5つから選択できます。 BrainWaveは10種以上の音から選択出来ます。が・・・それぞれの違いはかなり微妙なものです。 どれを聞いても「ブルルルル・・・」と、脳波らしい(?)音は出てるのですが、同じ音を使い回してるのでは、と感じてしまいました。 さて、肝心の効果についてですが、私にはあまり効果がありませんでした。 延々と「ブルルルル・・・」という低音と小雨やさざ波の音が同時に流れ続けるだけで、リラックスできたり熟睡効果を感じられたり・・・ということはありませんでした。 おそらく人によっては効果があるのでしょうが・・・ 同じ種類のアプリである「Mind Wave」も所有していますが、そちらの方が個人的には効果を実感できましたね。 小雨やさざ波の音を聞いていると癒される、延々聞いていても飽きない、という方にはこちらのアプリは効果があるのかもしれません。

短時間で即効性のあるものではありませんが、それぞれのサウンドのデフォルトタイムを基準にじっくり聴いているとジワジワと効いてくる実感がありました。移動中やおやすみ前に良いのではないでしょうか? 個人的にはストレスと不安感対策の二つにはメンタル管理的にとても助かっています。SleepCycleAlarmと並んで健康管理系では自分の中で双璧です。ありがとう!

アップの色んな組み合わせで快適な周波数と自然の音をそれぞれのちょうどいい音量で流して、周りの雑音、会話、テレビなど、邪魔な騒音を消して勉強に集中できました。車内、外出中など、忙しいときにちょっとした集中的な勉強がしたいときの頭の切り替えに有利なアップです。また、長い時間で勉強して集中力が散るときも、音楽よりも効果が良いと思います。

Love-only two complaints

I love this, for so many reasons that my only two complaints are features 1. I wish I could cast this to Apple TV. That’s it lol. 2. I wish there was a setting to restart after interruptions like a Phone call or recording a video (I use this at the Gym and record lifts, so each time I do I gotta restart)

Works, and has no subscription!

I have had this app for some years. I did a little experimenting with it when I got it, but lately, with more research on the benefit of various frequencies helping, have gotten back into it. It does help me concentrate or sleep, which are the two basic benefits I was looking to get. I zero in on work after a few minutes and seem to continue through with fairly less distraction. For sleep, the first time I used it for deep sleep, I actually did sleep all night without waking. For sleep, 20 minutes before taking off the headphones was all I did. I looked at similar apps, and they are all crazy purchases. Get either this app or the full package, which gets you other options similar to the ones in this app, but with more nuances.

App Starts Every time Phone connects to Bluetooth in Car

Great app except each time I get into my car, if I’ve recently use the app, even if it’s not open in the background, it will launch itself. I would delete the app and reinstall but I don’t want to have to pay for it again.

Still helpful after many years of use

I’ve had this app on my phone for many years, downloaded at some point to find any focus relief for ADHD. I go through phases of not using it, then always wonder why I stopped. Whether it’s placebo or real, it does seem to improve my ability to concentrate when played with another white noise. I also appreciate that it’s a single purchase without a subscription like so many apps.

Best thing for my frequent migraines!

Hello, I suffer from a chronic condition that gives me frequent migraines. This app has been revolutionary for my pain management. It help lessen the pain and in minor cases help resolve them. The ability to listen to gentle music from my pandora app or just the dual tones is soothing and changeable based on my comfort levels that day. Disclaimer: Not every setting on this app works for me and some, to me, are like nails on chalkboards. But the explanation for each tone has helped me figure out which tones and waves works best with my specific neurological needs. Which, as I understand is normal, not every setting is going to work for everyone. So I am ecstatic for the few setting that work for me as I need them. Headache relief, Alpha relaxation, Theta mediation, Deep Sleep, expresso shot, Focused and alert, and sometimes concentration. I have been using this app for 9 years and grateful for it every day.

Great meditation and sleep tool

I’ve had AMAZING meditations and power naps with this app. By far one of my most favorite apps. I use it almost every day!

Needs Update

I love this app so much but it is very buggy. It does an amazing job of helping me sleep well and wake up on time. It’s gotten older and now it has bugs and doesn’t work as well. Sometimes I think it plays the wrong beats. This app made me believe in binaural beats, but it could really use an update.

I can’t recommend this app enough, I use it every night to sleep and it truly makes a huge difference.

Doesn’t work for me

I got this to try to help with getting better deep sleep, so far any time I’ve used the app, it actually has done the opposite and I get little to no deep sleep.

Used this for 10+ years, highly recommend

So greatful this app was made before “subscription models” took hold in app store and that they still just let us pay once because this app has a lot of value. I use “focused and alert” a lot during work or study, I only play it 15-20 minutes. And I use deep slow wave sleep for 20 minutes for quick refreshing power naps during day. I like to pair it with Max Richter’s SLEEP: Tranquility Base album (spotify or itunes). I put on the “espresso shot” program 5 mins before starting an intense run to get me in peak brain state for super focused turbo resolve and let it run for 15 more mins into my run, by then runners high keeps me going just fine with right music.

I used to love this app, but something has changed.

As someone who suffers from insomnia and anxiety, this app used to be everything to me—the reason why I’m able to sleep at night. Now, the audio cuts after a certain time, which wakes me up and now keeps me up. I hope whatever caused this gets fixed soon 💔

Getting old?

This set of apps provides 91 settings, giving your brain a wardrobe of frequencies, most of which you may not have learned in life. You know you didn’t. Learning these states is like learning to ride a bike, once up and moving you don’t forget. At age 79, this app gives me total control. I am an avid gamer, and I just bought a bass and Bass Buzz lessons. I want to learn to use Garage Band. : )

Good, needs just a tad refining

I’m have really only two complaints. My therapist recommended this and it’s been awesome. My only two are 1. I can’t get it to restart after an interruption. I am on the phone all day and if I get a call, it doesn’t restart. My audio apps do, not this. It would be so nice if it did 2. When getting the binaural to load with “other audio”. There isn’t a Spotify option. Just iTunes and Apple Music. I have it working OK with Spotify. But I’d love to see the differences Great app

Amazing Headache relief

I have had this app for a long time on my phone. I am a migraine sufferer and when I feel the beginnings of a migraine coming, by simply tuning into the headache relief program I can stave of a headache or even get rid of one without having to medicate. I also use the focus program and the morning coffee program when I’m getting ready for work. I absolutely love these binaural beats. They truly work for me and I cannot be without this app. Thank you for making it truly affordable and no in app purchases.

Love this app! It’s so well thought out…

(First, I’ve been using this app forever and loved it, then. But I finally upgraded to this expanded version last year and now I love it even more, because there’s so much more great content. Now, I rarely bounce between apps anymore—wish I had done this sooner.) (Second: In my ADD experience, tones and/or brown noise is a great supplement to taking meds; i.e. Meds + Tones are a great combo. And this app particularly has given me the best results in terms of effectiveness.) I frequently use tones, brown noise, etc.—I got into this stuff a long time ago because I have ADD and needed help with focusing for work, and with winding down for sleep. Needless to say, I’ve gone through a lot of apps… This app is by far the best app of all of them. The features and functionality are so well thought out and I just love this thing. I use it religiously for work (I lead customer implementations and whatever else, so my job is high stress, fast paced, and brain-heavy). Brown noise is great and effective but what makes this app so much better than others I’ve tried is that: — I can combine the tones with brown noise and control the volume for each (which is awesome). — I can customize session runtimes beyond the standard choices. — — Also recommended runtimes stay visibly marked even when you change the runtime. — — Has an ‘always visible’ session countdown timer, which really comes in handy when you have to resume after a pause or just want to see how much time you have left in that session. — — — Also great that I can control pause/resume and volume via the controls on my (non-AirPods) bluetooth headphones. AND can see and access the same from my apple watch and iPhone lock screen. — The power-nap and sleep tones work great! — You can keep the MORE DETAILS screen up so you can read about each tone while scrolling through them. This is such a great feature! — — ALSO, if you were trying to look up specific frequency definitions in the HELP section while reading through tone selections, the HELP screen remembers your place when you click back into it. — — By the way, the HELP documentation for this app is EXCELLENT. Not only does it include info on how-to functionality, it also has a lot of info around the science—e.g., the “whys.” — Can choose playlist for background tones and it works great (I sometimes use this feature with tones—instead of brown noise—for non-work/errand/fun focus). — — WISHLIST (for Music Enhancement): Wish for more flexibility here, like: Right now, if you choose a playlist, it dumps all the songs in one area and you have to weed through the songs and uncheck the ones you’re not in the mood for, OR you have have to clear everything out and add a different and very specific playlist of songs you ARE in the mood for. The is doable but the extra effort—for me—disincentivizes trying using it in my daily; because in my daily I have bigger fish to fry, so I just stick to my brown noise even though there are some days when I’ve thought ambiance+music option would be nice, “only if.”—(1) Minimally would be nice to just be able to have my selected playlists LISTED so I can just pick it, and the next moment be able to pick a different playlist (e.g., switch between high energy classical to another flavor of classical.)—(2) Another option might at least be the ability to dump songs into “folders”—just some minimal way to categorize song selections, rather than dumping everything into one spot. (I realize there’s a fine line between providing some practical, feature-enhancing music functionality vs. a full blown music management system! *g*) — I can switch tones depending on what I’m doing—e.g., Most days I start with ‘Focus and Alert,’ then to ‘Concentration,’ then to ‘Critical Thinking,’ and the finally to ‘High Gamma Focus.’ AND if I’m getting ready to go into another heavy meeting, I switch to the ‘Confidence Boost’ tone—sometimes multiple times in my day… And believe it or not, it REALLY works—the extra confidence really seems to helps, while skidding into my next meeting and switching my brain at the same time. (Some days I’m just racing between deep-dive tasks: research & analysis—> meeting prep—> meeting—> meeting following-up—> FIRE! —> another meeting… It gets insane sometimes.) Anyway, this covers the headlines of why this app is so great. And hopefully the extra details about how I use the app will help someone else, with common challenges, relate—especially if they’re on the fence about whether this can help them. One word of advice for anyone who is use to a simpler-looking interface (like my wife)… To me, this app is user friendly and makes sense, considering all the features and functionality packed into such limited space (because the developers did such a fantastic job on this). For everyone else though, it could look like “a lot” and take a little longer to understand where everything is and how it works. But once you get oriented, you’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly. Point being, it’s totally worth it. Hands down—this is the best tones app I’ve seen out there (especially for the money) AND you can buy it outright without having to subscribe (death by a thousand paper-cuts)—I just can’t recommend this app enough!

LOVE this suite of apps!!

I use this all the time - sometimes just on its own - but also love the fact that I add music or soundscapes. It’s got a great UI (user interface) that allows me to select the right frequency for my intent. I bought the whole bundle and it is WORTH IT!!!

Great for brain injury recovery!

This has helped immensely as I recover from a brain injury. The alpha relaxation helps calm my brain, reduce headaches, and overall improve how I’m feeling. Highly recommend using if you get frequent headaches or overstimulated

Hidden Gem of the App Store

Compared to the overly complicated design of most apps these days, the simplicity of BrainWave’s UI is a breath of fresh air. However, this simplicity shouldn’t be confused with lack of features, as BrainWave includes a plethora of programs and background sounds which allow you to create the perfect soundscape for any situation. Also, I highly recommend purchasing the BrainWave Bundle, as this is what fully unleashes the app’s full potential (not to mention, the price is great for what you’re getting). I literally – not figuratively – use this app everyday. I use each morning to get focused and energized for the day and in the evening to relax and wind down for bed. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the dev for BrainWave is extremely friendly and responsive to any comments about the app. I sent him an email a month or so back with some feedback (it was a dumb idea that really didn’t deserve a reply), and he replied with a very thorough email that went above and beyond what I was expecting. I highly recommend this app!

Best Binaural Beats App and more

Hands down the most thought binaural beats app on the market. It’s simple, not over done, everything you need and more. The ability to use other apps, play other sounds, while using these binaural beats is the real winning feature in my opinion. I’m easily able to make my own perfectly curated subliminals because of this feature, or go deeper in guided meditations I may like. So smart. Thanks for making it easy and affordable.

Reduces Tinnitus Effects, But Lacks Apple Watch App

By selecting the optimum program mode and sound/frequency levels it helps tune out tinnitus so you can fall asleep (and stay asleep). One feature that is sorely lacking in this is Apple Watch support. Developer should create a Watch app to control it from your wrist instead of having to use the iPhone when you’re relaxing. It would be a 5-Star app then!

Several Programs are Helping my Chronic Insomnia

I have suffered from chronic insomnia for 3-4 years, which has gotten significantly worse over the last year. I have tried all the common recommendations (no blue light from devices after 6 pm, no eating/minimal drinking 2-3 hours before bed, melatonin, white/green/whatever color noise, exercise, …) and some not-as-common ones (cooling gel pads in bed, BedJet, sleep study, acupuncture, chiropractor, etc.). Some of these seem to contribute to improvement, but I have concluded that nothing “solves” chronic insomnia. I would put Brainwave 37 towards the top of the “contribute to improvement” list. I have been using it for about 3 months - specifically the “Gamma-40 Focus” during the day and the “Deep-Slow Wave,” “Deep Sleep,” and “Dreamy Sleep” apps at night. I use the latter two frequently when I wake up (approx ever two hours) throughout the night. I do believe they help get me back to sleep. If I’ve had a really stressful day, there is no “cure all” for me, but these programs definitely help. I’m interested to try the “Perfect Sleep” app that someone else mentioned in a review to see if that might assist further. Overall, I highly recommend.

Non-scientific observations—TBI recovery

I have been using this product for years with exceptional results. Background: I have suffered six significant trauma related concussions in my lifetime, one of which was associated with a blood clot in the left sinus of my brain and the last of which led to a complex partial seizure / TIA stroke. By all measures, I should be drooling on myself right now, and not a program manager at the premier applied physics laboratory. My brain’s elasticity is certainly unique. I cannot attribute my entire recovery and durability to binaural stimulation alone; however, when combined with a regimen of speech therapy, proper pharmaceutical interventions, rest and recuperation, and stimulation / not over-stimulation, I believe that the app has made a significant difference in helping me to rewire my neural pathways and quickly recover my executive functions. I would highly recommend that this app be placed into double-blind clinical trials for TBI recovery. I am a firm believer in its potential.

Love the update!

Been using this app for a LONG time. On and off for literally close to 10 years. Some times I use it daily for a nap meditation, sometimes I use it at night to drown out my wife’s snoring😅. The most recent update had a lot of the information and features I had been craving for a long time - and others I didn’t even know I wanted yet. I definitely sprung for the whole package, as should you because you never know what program is going to work best for you. One of my favorites from this particular app is Alpha Relaxation with the floating background. I set the background to about 40% and the brainwave at 80%. The truth is, Binaural audio works! You should look it up and see how this simple process can of manipulating and rendering audio can have powerful effects on your body and mind.

I really do enjoy this app. Current content has been great, as of recent there was some new added. It would welcoming to see more though. It could be slightly more informative, like what each type of frequency activates what in our brains exactly. Alpha, gamma, beta, etc., when I see just these all I can think of is male behavior types. I dont believe I read any info on whether there is any effect by which volume it is listened at either. The option to make and save our own wave combos would be interesting to have as well.

Love the tones, hate the interface

The customization and choice of tones is great. The UI is not. At a minimum, it needs a search bar and maybe a way to mark entries as a favorite. That way you don’t have to waste time clicking and scrolling through a ton of choices every time you want to pick something containing specific words in its description. Many of the buttons and features aren’t intuitive. A couple of examples: That big plus sign? Nothing to do with the program; it only opens up the ‘about page’ with a list of their other apps. Even though it appears as though you would be able to save multiple presets, you can’t. You only get 1 preset for a brainwave, which is annoying, especially when many of the brainwaves have multiple uses.

Love this app

Works do well to keep me focused! With here were some more lo-fi style music choices, with a bit more of a beat, but I can usually find a background track that works! Thanks so much for this great app :)

I’m a big Power Nap guy and Brainwave helps me feel well rested after a 20 minute nap.

TBI and Post Concussion Syndrome - this app gets me through it!

This app is invaluable to me in regard to concentration, dealing with chronic pain and concentration issues resulting from injury sustained in a rock climbing accident. Without this app I’d have a much more difficult time doing my job, which is very labor intensive and cognitively exhausting as I assist scientists across academic, nonprofit, and governmental sectors. Thank you for these binaural beats! I need them.

Alarm malfunction

Alarm I use is end time alarm. Some setting Is over riding and alarm is not going off at the right time 🥵

I couldn’t stay asleep,It works for me, their are several different settings, so you can get it to help you. Start with pink noise, play it loud enough it sounds like running water It has lots of settings to fine tune it for your needs.

Didn’t think it could get better—then it did!

I contacted the developer recently and learned a ton of new features about an app I’ve been using for at least ten years. I hadn’t been paying attention to the updates but when I learned I have Long-COVID and that some research has been done into using sound to stimulate the Vagus nerve to alleviate some LC and ME/CFS symptoms, I wrote to the developer to ask what settings might be best on Brainwave. I received such helpful responses, I was bowled over. The short version: calm the Vagus with "Deep Relaxation" and/or "Alpha Relaxation" programs, stimulate it with the "Gamma-40 Focus" program. It’s not often you get an app and developer who are both so good and helpful. I wish I could give more than 5-stars

My go-to app for all things mental!!!

Love this app! Have been using for years. It’s my go-to app for focus, concentration, sleep, Power Nap, etc. So many uses and very user friendly.
